Dan Tarbell - Co-Chairman
Dan attended school in the Evergreen school district and attended Portland Community College. He joined the Fort Vancouver Barracks Sea Cadets at the age of fourteen and then enlisted in the United States Navy in 1963 where he was a Plane Captain and Air Crew. He was honorably discharged in 1969. Dan worked as a International Sheet Metal worker in until he retired in 2000.
Dan is a member of the American Legion, Local, State, and National Officer of the 40 et 8, Elks member, AUSA member and past member of the Men in Black Honor Guard. He was part of the crew to restore the USS Blue Back and part of the crew that restored the Lady Bell helicopter.
Along with Larry Smith, Dan co-founded the Community Military Appreciation Community (CMAC) on December 1st, 2009. Due to the relocation of the Division to Joint Base Lewis-McCord they felt there was a need to organize CMAC. They felt they owed it to the Community to make sure Memorial Day, POW/MIA and Veterans Day ceremony's continued on.
Larry Smith - Co-Chairman
vancouvertiger@comcast.netHe graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor’s degree in Arts & Sciences in
1965 and went on to obtain a Masters degree in both Recent American History & Human Resource Management. Larry also served in the Army for 26 years
before retiring as a Colonel of Infantry in 1991. After retiring from the Army, He served as Assistant to the City Manager until 1996 and then went on to be
the Director of the Vancouver-Clark Parks and Recreation Department until 2003.
In his free time Larry enjoys a round of golf, exercising, and spending time with
his wife of 37 years, Patti, his daughter Kirstin, son-in-law Steve and 2 year old granddaughter Cami and one month old Brogan (Vacaant) DIRECTORS: Morris Giesler
