Carville Star

As one of our oldest ongoing programs Voyageur Militaires have continually supported the Carville Star for over 70 years. This program's name is the combination of “Carville, La.” and “Star Magazine”. Carville, La. the last refuge for those who become infected with Hansen's disease, and home of the National Hansen's Disease Museum. “Star”, radiating the light of truth on Hansen's Disease, since the 1940's. The 40 & 8 have not only been assisting in it's publication; but also in it's circulation of more than 8,000 in the U.S. and translated into and forwarded to over 150 countries. “The Star” has been a patient – published publication carrying the works not only of this center but those of the rest of the world. Research done at the center in Baton Rouge, La. has enabled them in successfully isolating, controlling and soon a vaccine to prevent Hansen's Disease.
