The Loci

About the Loci

                                

The 40 et 8 Locomotive is a replica of a Nineteenth Century French WWI era coal burning locomotive engine. It was built in 1984 in Vancouver, WA and has appeared in parades and gatherings throughout the United States, Alaska and Canada. It is 12’ 6” high, 29’ 6” long and weighs in at almost 18,000 pounds. It can carry up to thirteen passengers and is powered by a Cummings Diesel engine with an Allison six speed automatic transmission. Manned by a minimum crew of three: Engineer, assistant Driver and Conductor.

The 40 et 8 “LOCI” has been driven to all four corners of the United States and as far north as the Artic-Circle visiting Fairbanks, Alaska via the Al-Can Highway.

Each year the LOCI visits Randall Children’s Hospital and assists Santa Claus on his appointed rounds. In addition, the LOCI participates in dozens of parades and other patriotic and community functions throughout the year in the Pacific Northwest.
